Synopsis:

The story takes place in a port town by the Persian Gulf. The captain is a one-armed middle aged loner who is faced with the danger of having his boat confiscated by the customs officials. Thus, he decides to accept an offer to help a group of exiled criminals escape. But the trip takes an unexpected turn…

Director’s Profile:

Born in 1940 in Abadan, Nasser Taghavi is best known internationally for his free adaptation of Hemingway’s “To Have and Not to Have”. CAPTAIN KHORSHID, which won Bronze Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival. A graduate of literature from Tehran University and promising short-story story writer, Taghavi began his film career collaborating with Ebrahim Golestan on THE BRICK AND THE MIRROR. The he directed a number of short films for National Television and Kanoon before making his debut feature, TRANQUILITY IN THE PRESENCE OF OTHERS, in 1969 which was released four years later and marked a modern classic adaptation in Iranian movies. Besides he has directed not only a number of most debated Iranian documentaries, but also one of the most popular TV series, My UNCLE NAPOLEON (1975).
